Larriland Farms – A Day of Pick Your Own Peaches!

July 28, 2010

So guess what I did on Sunday! I drove (er…rode…) out to Maryland with friend-of-the-blog Rob, to pick our own peaches!

More peaches than you can handle.

*Quick note: The photos here are taken by Rob, using his brother’s Nikon D60.

We went to an awesome place called Larriland Farms which was within driving distance (~1 hour) of Pentagon City. At Larriland, they have a wide variety of produce – seriously wide, and seriously varied – including peaches:

Just Peachy!

Tiny fruits.

And raspberries!

Sweetly nestled...but watch out for the stickers.

It was a pick-your-own place, so of course we needed an action shot:

Those hands...picked a LOT of berries. This one was huge!

And of course the farm came with instructions:

Ankles? Oh, these ankles? Right.

It was a really fun day of pickings, packings, luggings and tastings. I even found a superpeach:

Beeeg peeeeach.

I look tired, because I was tired! It was a LONG day.

And in the end? I came out with 1/2 bushel of peaches (yellow and white fleshed), 1 quart of raspberries, and 1 pint of blueberries. Finale:

Pretty flowers!

Pretty flowers x2!

Rob found a little friend.

Stay tuned for delicious jams I made out of the fruits!!!

Why were the raspberry bushes so short? They’re usually tall.

That’d be because the camera was actually in Rob’s hands…but I’m sure he appreciates the compliment too! 🙂
